In The Apprentice, you play as a strange little slime, born from a shattered crystal and lost in a forest twisted by magic and pain. You don’t know who you are or why you’re here… but something inside you is changing.

Explore a handcrafted world full of secrets, strange creatures, and dangerous shadows. As you delve deeper into the forest, you’ll gain new movement abilities by defeating weakened enemies and discovering the mysterious remains of a fallen world.

Face intense boss battles, dodge traps, climb ruins, and try to make sense of a place that seems to remember things you never lived.

If you enjoy challenging platforming, eerie worlds, and uncovering story through gameplay, this is for you.

Install instructions

How to Download and Play

Click the Download button on this page and download the .zip file corresponding to your platform.

Once the download is complete, extract the full contents of the .zip file into a folder of your choice.

Locate the executable file in the extracted folder and run it to start the game:

On Windows: TheApprentice.exe
On macOS or Linux: TheApprentice.exe

Security Notice

Depending on your operating system and security settings, you may see a warning when launching the game. This is normal for unsigned applications distributed outside of official platforms.

On Windows:

When launching the game, Windows Defender SmartScreen may display a blue warning message:

"Windows protected your PC"

This doesn’t mean the game is unsafe—just that it hasn’t been signed by a recognized publisher.

To proceed:

Click "More info"
Then click "Run anyway"

Alternatively:

Right-click the .exe file, select "Properties", and if there’s a checkbox labeled "Unblock" at the bottom, check it and click Apply.

We assure you the file is safe and free of malware.

On macOS:

You may see a message saying the app cannot be opened because it’s from an unknown developer. To fix this:

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy
In the General tab, click "Allow Anyway" after trying to open the app.
